laptop cannot find D2 CD

Hi,
I've been trying to launch my D2 for last 30 minutes. The scenario is allways the same: I put the CD in, it loads for a while, then the "insert expansion disc" msg pops up. When I click OK, it repeats and then the msg just keeps appearing, until I re-insert the CD.

Any ideas how to solve this ?

Your install might be broken, a clean reinstall may work.

I tried to use my dad's external DVD and it works fine, so I guess the one in my laptop is dying. Now the problem still remains, cause I can't drag the external drive everywhere. Would some kind of image file work ?

Disc scratched or damaged?  That might be the problem.

Uhmm... if you do the full install you don't need a CD?

Only after 1.12 and that requires you to copy some files from the CD to the D2 install folder. For the first start and for patching you do need the CD. And also if you haven't copied the required file.

Add your CDkeys to your Battle.net account to acquire access to a downloadable client, which doesnt require the use of a CD logically.

I've already added the CD-key to another battle.ne account, which I lost (forgot the name, e-mail, pretty much everything).

Mount an iso image of the disk maybe?

I could use any image (iso) file I find as long as I use my CD-key right ?

I can no longer use the external DVD-ROM cause I'm at college again.
