With the growth of the channel we need to give some more detail to the .rules. We can't start a what-to-do discussion every time. Also, it's unclear to a lot of members what is allowed and what is not. To clear things up we with:
* List of offenses and the range of consequences
* An entry for every (ex)-member and his failings (entries can be removed on request after 6 months).
List offenses and the range of consequences: * Using maphack -> 1d+ timeban
, Exile for repeat offenders.* Using tppk tools (tppk, autoaim, itemcheck, chicken etc) -> exile, no less
* Leaking or asking for password -> 7d timeban or up to exile
* Grabbing ->
6h+ timeban, Exile for repeat offenders.
* Using or advertising botruns (
including chantbots) -> 1d-3d timeban. Exile for repeat offenders.
* Doing .g-leave for extended time -> 1-2d timeban, removed from channel for repeat offenders.
* Failing the "gauss test#" -> warning, timeban, removed from channel, exile.
* Using inappropriate names for accounts or chars. -> The bot will kick you from the channel with a chance of 42%.
* Using level service(free or paid): 3d timeban, exile on repeat (Added 18.Nov 2010)
# the "gauss test" Any action carried out by a member which is deemed not to be acceptable in Op Gauss. If an OP thinks your actions in the channel damages Op gauss in anyway it can be discussed in the Ops forum and consequences may follow.
Social Rules for all:* The
'keep your nose and teeth rule': Don't say things which normal people would not say face to face, because they would either get a flat nose and less teeth or make themselves an enemy for life.
* The
'not in the mall rule': If you have a problem with someone, discuss it in private. A private channel is so easy to open, just say '/join gausstalk' or so.
* The
'HALT-DS' rule: If you are hungry, angry, lonely, tired, DRUNK or STONED, don't start an argument. Wait till you have eaten, calmed down, talked to a friend, slept and sobered.
* The
'don't burn down the city rule': If you intentionally reproach, hurt or insult other players in public (forum or any game) this will not only hurt your relation to the individual, but also the community. So in principle you express that you are a self-centered, opinionated ... subject.
Updated: 02.3.2012
* The
'behave wherever you are rule': Abuse, bullying, anti social or racist behavior to another member in any game using the Gauss tag is not acceptable and may result in your membership to the channel and forum being restricted.

Drops in runs and rushes:* The no grabbing rules applies of course!
* The runner is the one who takes the most risk for the other players.
*
the runner has first pick at items that he will use now or very soon. (Note not blizz soon, like 1week=soon)* If the runner does not need the item himself, other players ask before they take, normally the active player who needs the item most gets it. If you clicked by accident you DONT identify and offer to give it back.
* In ambiguous cases use the .roll command
*
picking up to sell vs. fg is acceptable ONLY if all other members contributing to the run dont need that item.*
HR drops (>=pul) are always rolled among all players, except fillers* Breaking these rules result in a timeban and exile on repeat!
* If someone breaks these rules always report to an op so that :heart: can be restored.
* Also see the
special rules for runsDrops during normal play:* Drops should be divided evenly between players actively involved, and should go to the player who can use it.
* Any player can ask for a drop to be .roll-ed
** All players issue the command "/w *gauss .roll" and get a number between 1-100 back, and say it.
** The player with the highest number wins the drop.

Gauss rules for PK- pk in gauss gauss is only ok if all participating parts have agreed on it and the game name shows that it is pvp going on there, like "gs pvp", "gs duel", "gs all vs fisk"
- pk outside of gauss only in a fair way, meaning:
* no lame tricks, people should have time to realize your after them before it's too late
* don't kill chars lower than 80% of your own level
* leave game if a char lower than 80% of your own level asks you too
* no ench unless it's self-ench
* no loaded portals
* no hacks ofc
One last thing...
In your application, state that you have read and understood the gauss channel rules, consequences and information. If you don't do this, your application will rejected with the message "Gauss error #1". This means: you have not read this info and will not be accepted.
You will get a gauss error#2 if your application has been denied because it failed to reach the standard expected. Re-read this post Try again in 1 week at the earliest. Each failure or early retry doubles your wait time.
